Sunrise Senior Living

Sunrise - the new high quality care home alternative

Sunrise has been quietly pioneering a revolution in the UK, having over the last few years opened 27 high quality residences in England and Wales. Each offers something more than care: it’s an entirely new and positive approach to senior living and wellbeing. The residences are uplifting in themselves, but it is a combination of all factors - surroundings, services, care, and people - that creates something really different.

A Wonderful Home Care Alternative

Whereas the traditional view of care homes, in the main, is that they are a necessary but undesirable option, Sunrise has developed here a more positive choice.

The actual living environments are of a very high quality but at the same time home-like and care is administered in a way that promotes the senior's dignity and independence. Every Sunrise residence is designed, from the foundation up, to be senior-friendly without the usual institutional feel. Fresh flowers and natural light are the order of the day with other items that remind of disability (like lifts) being skilfully hidden away.

Nutrition is vital to wellbeing and Sunrise offers restaurant style dining which meets the need for a freshly prepared menu of food. The need for challenge and mental stimulation is catered for by a daily programme of 5 organised activities, hobbies and entertainments. Isolation (which is so much a part of the lives of seniors living alone in their own home) is replaced by friendship and fun.

When thinking about the best care solution, you might wish to consider the following:

1. Consistency of care and carers : Continuity enables seniors to build trust and confidence, helping an older person feel comfortable - wherever they are. Not knowing ‘who is going to turn up at your home’ can be quite upsetting and stressful.

2. Safety : A house may not be the safest environment to live in any more. Purpose-built surroundings can be far more secure and a more effective environment in which to care for someones’ needs.

3. Loneliness: One of the key contributors to an older person not enjoying life is the loneliness of living at home, finding it difficult to get out, waiting for the next visitor to break the boredom. This significantly reduces quality of life.

4. Care can be very different at Sunrise : We offer personal care and assistance to seniors according to each individual's needs including high level nursing care where required. Specialised care for seniors with memory loss conditions is available within our seperate Reminiscence neighbourhood. Through bespoke design features and therapies, residents' memories are gently prompted to provide comfort. Such specialised care is rare both in the UK and internationally.

Sunrise is a place where seniors love to live

In Sunrise's experience, delivering the most effective senior living care involves careful thought, planning and hard work, driven by passion to give seniors the best quality of life. Offering continuity in expert care within a home-like environment, Sunrise provides a variety of well appointed residential accommodation with private suites for both individual and couples. We organise ourselves around the individual needs and wishes of each resident rather than the other way round.

Our principles of service drive our attitude and care and formalise our feelings about our residents. These are well-understood and adhered to by all Sunrise staff - not just carers!

These principles are
• Encouraging Independence
• Enabling Choice
• Preserving Dignity
• Celebrating Individuality
• Nurturing the Spirit
• Involving Family and Friends

As a result of this we believe that every resident at Sunrise enjoys the highest possible quality of life that their age and condition can allow.
