Services for Independent Living(SIL) - Herefordshire, Gloucestershire and South Wales

Our Services

SIL’s focus is on meeting the needs of disabled and older people who need support to live in their own home. Our services are available to people of all ages and all impairments. For example older people, parents of disabled children, people with mental health needs and people with physical impairments or learning difficulties. Our strength is in creating carefully structured services with people to meet their individual needs.

Independent Living @ Home

Services for Independent Living is passionate about supporting disabled and older people to live the life they choose in their own home and community. We understand that it matters to our customers that they have a consistent staff team providing a reliable service and we go the ‘extra mile’ to make it happen.

Our Independent Living @ Home service is individually designed in partnership with you to meet your unique needs. You can choose to be involved in the selection of the support workers who best fit you and your lifestyle. We operate a thorough recruitment process, and support workers are selected for their enthusiasm and commitment to the rights and choices of individuals. They receive ongoing and comprehensive training to ensure they have the skills to meet your needs.

Whether for a few hours a week or full time support, we can help you lead the life you want.  We are happy to offer a trial period of support for you to experience our service.

Personal Budget & Support Planning in England

What is a Personal Budget?

A Personal Budget is a sum of money allocated to an individual to meet their care and support needs. In some counties the funding ‘pots’ involved are:

  • Adult Social Care (ASC)
  • Primary Care Trust (PCT) Continuing Care Funds (eligibility permitting)

The person may choose to take all of the money as a Direct Payment to purchase services themselves, or have adult social care manage the budget on their behalf.

The advantage is that the person can choose to buy / do things that are not normally provided by adult social care.

This may mean they get more involved in their community activities and ‘services’.

Direct Payments Support Services

SIL is a service user led charitable organisation with over 16 years of direct experience supporting people with Direct Payments.

We offer services to support people in receipt of, or thinking about taking a Direct Payment in Herefordshire, Torfaen and Gloucestershire. Please click on the links or the menu bar relating to the area you are interested in.

Pension Adminstration Service

New in 2016 the Pension Administration Service (PAS) is available to anyone who purchases our Payroll Services. The new legislation which makes it a duty for all employers, however small, to offer their employees a pension where applicable has caused a lot of confusion to many employers.

The PAS offers three levels of support depending on your individual circumstances. In each case you can be assured of the very best service from our Payroll Team who will be working on your behalf and at the end of a telephone to answer your queries.

To find out more about the three levels of service available and how you can sign on to PAS, give us a call on 01568 616653 or email Laura Edwards on laura@s4il.co.uk
