Safer Wyre Forest

Safer Wyre Forest is one of the operational groups that exist to ensure that local issues and concerns remain at the centre of the Partnership’s priorities, projects and campaigns.

At a local level the group deals with community safety issues and anti social behaviour. The group is responsible for delivering local actions from the Partnership Plan.

The group discusses community safety issues brought to their attention and use a problem solving approach to identify short term actions to address these and allocate resources accordingly.

In addition they also promote public reassurance and engage with media on different aspects of community safety.

Campaigns

Our aim is to make North Worcestershire an even safer place to live, work or visit and one way is raising awareness through various campaigns such as:-

One of the summer crime campaigns - "Empty Your Car Before A Thief Does" encourages residents to take some simple precautions to help reduce the risk of becoming a victim of car crime.

Remember to lock all doors, close windows and shut the sun roof every time you leave your vehicle unattended.

Don't leave anything on display in your vehicle - even a coat or plastic bag left on view will tempt a thief.

Wipe sat nav sucker marks from the glass, remove the sat nav and take it with you.  Sucker marks tell thieves that there is likely to be a sat nav in the glove box or boot!

Partnership Working

Through partnership working many initiatives have been achieved, here are just a few:

A giant banner bearing hundreds of colourful handprints from high school students across The ContinU Trust of Wyre Forest and Hagley is being displayed in Kidderminster’s Academy Building in Weaver’s Wharf, celebrating the pledges made by students and staff to support the White Ribbon anti-domestic violence campaign.

Local community groups have been given the opportunity to apply for community payback to assist them with a project in their community.

Supporting and funding the Street Pastor Schemes in each district

Helping to ensure that there are less victims of crime in Wyre Forest through various initiatives and campaigns such as "Safe as Houses" and "Empty your car before a thief does"

Supported hundreds of vulnerable residents and victims of burglary through the Home Security Schemes

Funded the "Think Before You Drink" campaign, which has helped to reduce the number of young people that congregate in groups to drink in the evenings

Supported local community groups through the provision of small grants.  We've helped events such as the Party in the Parks (Bewdley and Stourport-on-Severn)
