Bury Central Library is the largest and busiest of Bury's libraries. It is home to the largest lending library and ICT suite as well as Reference and Information Services. Also within the building you can access the Bury Archives Service with local and family history as well as the Art Gallery and Museum.
The lending library lends books, CDs, videos, DVDs and talking books.
The Computer Centre has 34 computers, two with scanners attached, and adjustable height desks to accommodate wheelchair users. The computers are free to use, can be booked in advance, provide access to the Internet and the full suite of Microsoft Office applications. Free access is available for up to two hours a day (30 minutes on the 2 PCs with scanners attached) and low cost printing is provided.
Staff are always on hand to provide help and support with any computer issues. Regular, bookable, one-to-one "Get You Started" sessions are also available from our knowledgeable staff on a variety of topics.
The quiet study room accommodates 8 people and is available on a drop in basis.
RIS is based at Bury Central Library and manages the information resources for all of the libraries covering subject areas such as business, environment, European Union, health and legal issues. The RIS section in Bury Library has 5 public access computers for accessing our subscription online resources such as Groves Art and Music, Ancestry , Driving Theory test and many more. The local and family history resources have now been combined with the Archives records so that all of the resources are available at the same location.
Bury Central Library is a Council Information Point - bringing council services closer to home.

Pay and Display parking is available outside the library for up to 2 hours. Other nearby parking facilities, offering longer than 2 hours, are available. Blue Badge holders have unlimited free parking outside the library. Blue Badge holders may park in any of the bays outside the library on Manchester Road, Moss Street and Silver Street but please note that there are some raised bays outside St Marie's Church allowing easier access to the footpath.
